Canon updated its VIXIA HF R-series lineup of camcorders at CES today with three new models: the VIXIA HF R62, VIXIA HF R60 and the VIXIA HF R600.

Canon’s new PIXMA MX492 is a compact wireless inkjet office all-in-one printer designed to produce high-quality documents and photos. The Canon PIXMA MX492's features include advanced wireless connectivity, an automatic document feeder, borderless printing, fax function and fast print speeds (approximately 8.8 images per minute for B&W prints and 4.4 for color). It offers high-quality printing with a four-color hybrid ink system that combines dye ink for vivid colors and black pigment ink for sharp text.

Along with the five PowerShot cameras, Canon announced a brand new category of device this morning ahead of this week’s CES in Las Vegas. Called the Canon Connect Station CS100, the square-shaped gadget looks like a mobile printer but is a photo and video network storage device that can connect to multiple compatible imaging devices, letting users to store, view and share images and videos.

This item is a real blast from the past, one that goes all the way back to the early days of photography. Just because this kit is retro chic doesn’t mean it isn’t fun (and very educational) for all ages. The Viddy from Photojojo is a fully functional pinhole camera made from durable (screen printed to make it look like a real camera) cardboard that you build yourself.

The most hotly discussed photo topic in the past month, undoubtedly, has to be the reported sale of a photo by Australian photographer Peter Lik for a record-breaking price of $6.5 million. I say “reported” sale because, as of yet, no unbiased source has been able to officially confirm this news, which was announced by Lik’s parent company in a press release in early December.

Here we go again. That’s what Nikon owners might be saying to themselves now that another possible problem with a new DSLR from the company has surfaced. Several owners of the new Nikon D750 have reported that a dark shadowy band will appear in images with lens flare. The effect slices off the top of the flare, creating a distracting split between light and shadow across the top of the frame.
