WD (Western Digital) has launched four new network attached storage (NAS) devices including the new My Cloud Expert Series, which is aimed at photographers and other creative professionals. NAS devices, which connect to a home or studio network and allow multiple users to access, manage and stream stored files, have become an increasingly popular storage solution for photographers.

The much-buzzed about Konost FF camera is the brainchild of a new American start-up company (made up of engineers and designers) who are passionate about photography. The company's 20-megapixel, 35mm full-frame digital rangefinder camera is currently under development but is already attracting a lot of attention on the web for its Leica-like look and its simplicity.

The mayor of the Belgian town of Charleroi, Paul Magnette, admits he’s not an expert on photography but he says he does know bad journalism when he sees it. And he knew he had to act when he saw that Italian photographer Giovanni Troilo had won first prize for "contemporary issues” in the prestigious World Press Photo's contest for his bleak photo essay about Charleroi called “The Dark Heart of Europe.”

Panasonic has announced the new Lumix G 42.5mm/F1.7 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) (equivalent: 85 mm) and the Lumix G Macro 30mm/ F2.8 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. (equivalent: 60mm) lenses. Both lenses are designed for Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds camera systems.

Leica has just unveiled a stylish new rangefinder camera set created in collaboration with rock star Lenny Kravitz: the Leica M-P “Correspondent” by Kravitz Design. The Pentax K-S1 is a small but versatile DSLR system with a 20MP APS-C sensor. Its body design is based on a standard SLR concept, with a large grip on the right hand side and a pentaprism optical viewfinder. There are, however, some aspects of the camera that are quite unusual, mainly the use of LEDs to signal settings and functions. These LEDs sit on the front and back of the camera and can, for example, show how many people are included in the face detection function; indicate the choice of photo or video mode with a red or green circle of LEDs on the back; or, quite reasonably, indicate self-timer countdown via bright LEDs on the camera front.
