Our Picture This! assignment this month was Echoing Forms and we received a fantastic group of images showing this compositional technique, where forms seem to “echo,” or repeat within a frame. Submissions ranged from images that captured repeating patterns in nature such as the leaves on a tree or blades of grass, to more made-made forms, including images of machines and architecture. There were even several eye-catching images where animals seemed to echo each other, in a true expression of “copycatting.” Please check out some of our favorite Echoing Forms images from readers in the next few pages.

Some cameras, including my classy and not-so-cheap Sony RX100, charge through the USB cable. There’s no need for a separate charger; simply plug the adapter into the wall and the small connector into the camera. There are pros and cons to this system.

Nearly every culture holds the horse in high regard. Symbolic of strength and freedom, these majestic and intelligent animals strike a certain cord with people. We all seem to have an almost instinctive bond with them even if we’ve never been in close contact with a horse before. Renowned equine photographer, Tony Stromberg became aware of the phenomena after the publication of his first books Spirit Horses and The Forgotten Horses. The feedback he received was filled with glowing praise for his work and expressions of deep feelings of respect (and even love) for the horses. This information amazed Stromberg and inspired him to explore the healing aspect of this relationship through the art of photography.

Edwin Land introduced his first instant camera 66 years ago. Now Supersense presents their 66/6, a new pinhole instant camera (limited to 500 handcrafted pieces) dedicated to the Polaroid founder. Just six years after Polaroid closed down its last film factory, Supersense unveiled this new instant camera that uses Polaroid’s classic White Frame Instant Film format, currently produced by The Impossible Project.

Photographer Olivia Muus has juxtaposed a iPhone in front of Victorian paintings to create her own whimsical photo series called #museumofselfies.

Today marks the launch of the second season of the “Nikon Behind the Scenes” video series. The second season starts with Nikon Ambassador (and wedding photographer) Cliff Mautner’s “Nikon Behind the Scenes: Wedding Day Portraits with Cliff Mautner.”

For those keeping score, Nikon has produced a ton of lenses over the years. To be more precise, the company just announced that the total production of Nikkor lenses for interchangeable lens cameras has now reached the 90 million mark.

Although photography has always been his one real passion, life initally took Michael Reichmann in another career direction.
