Canon Unveils Five New PowerShot Cameras Including Superzoom and Slim ELPH Models at CES

Canon unveiled three new super-zoom cameras to its PowerShot SX lineup this morning, along with two new compact models to its sleek and chic ELPH line. The announcements were timed with the start of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is opening in Las Vegas, Nevada this week.

The three new Canon PowerShot SX super-zoom cameras are the 50x PowerShot SX530 HS, the 30x PowerShot SX710 HS and the 18x PowerShot SX610 HS, all of which feature optical zooms. They also have built-in Wi-Fi and NFC to help share images wirelessly, and use 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensors.

Meanwhile, the new PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and PowerShot ELPH 160 compact cameras feature 12x and 8x Optical Zoom lenses, respectively, and can shoot 720p HD video.

Superzoom SX Models

The 16MP, 50x (equivalent to 24-1200mm) Canon PowerShot SX530 (top image) has optical image stabilization, can shoot 1080p HD video and is powered by Canon’s DIGIC 4+ Image Processor. It goes on sale in February 2015 for $429 and comes in black.

The 20.3MP, 30x (equivalent to 25-750mm) Canon PowerShot SX710 (above), has optical image stabilization, can shoot 1080p HD video at up to 60 frames per second via a dedicated movie button, and is powered by Canon’s Digic 6 image processor. It goes on sale in February 2015 for $349 and comes in black.

The 20.2MP, 18x (equivalent to 25-450mm) SX610 is powered by Canon’s DIGIC 4+ image processor. It goes on sale in Feburary 2015 for $249 and comes in red, white or black.

Slim ELPH Models

The PowerShot ELPH 170 IS is a slim and stylish camera that features a 12x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 25-300mm) and 20MP CCD sensor. It can shoot 720p HD and goes on sale in February 2015 for $149. It comes in blue, silver and black.

The PowerShot ELPH 160 (above) has a 8x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 28-224mm) and 20MP CCD sensor. It can shoot 720P HD video and goes on sale in February 2015 for $119. It comes in black, white, silver, and red.
