In October 2014, Shutterbug reader Gerry Groeber visited the Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona, Arizona, to take photographs. Months earlier, a “devastating” fire tore through Oak Creek, but luckily much of the canyon was spared from the fire. While exploring the area he came upon this scene of a solitary tree and felt compelled to take a photo.

POV—point of view—is what this month’s Picture This! was all about. We asked readers to send in photos made from sometimes dizzying heights to show us all how where you stand and the lens you use can make for some great photo ops. Shutterbug was co-sponsor of the Mountain Click Photo Comp at the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado, this past summer and we’re excited to spotlight the work of two of the winners in Full Frame this month. Steve Gandy won the Mountain Click (Anything Goes) competition, which required photographers to enter three images shot during the Mountain Games using any camera.

The Isle of Skye in Scotland is a location that had been on photographer Andrei Duman’s “bucket list” for a long time. “It is rugged, remote, with unpredictable weather and stunning scenery,” Duman says. “The roads are few and far between and with them being very winding through the countryside, it is full of stop-starts, especially when the sheep decide to cross.”
