The Sigma Corporation just unveiled the new the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens, which the company says is "a completely new design for full-frame mirrorless cameras, as the 'DN' designation indicates." Along with this morning’s lens announcement, Sigma just introduced the new compact Sigma sd Quattro and Sigma sd Quattro H mirrorless camera systems with Foveon Quattro sensors. The Sigma sd Quattro features an APS-C sized sensor and the Sigma sd Quattro H has a slightly larger APS-H sized sensor.

The sd Quattro H is Sigma’s second mirrorless camera based on a Foveon sensor that uses lenses with an SA mount. Compared to the first sd Quattro, which was introduced in summer 2016, the new camera offers a larger sensor, a more rugged yet still compact DSLR-style camera build, and a host of new features.

The highly anticipated Sigma sd Quattro mirrorless camera we previewed back in February is now officially shipping. Unlike previous Quattro models that featured built-in lenses of various fixed focal lengths, the new sd Quattro is an interchangeable-lens camera with a dust and splash-proof design.

All photographers strive for perfectly sharp photos, and this task can often be difficult depending on the subject at hand and the situation we confronts. Consistently achieving precise focus isn't about owning a great camera, but rather understanding how autofocus really works and knowing how to use it properly and the best settings to use.

Earlier this month we discussed five ways to boost autofocus with whatever gear you own. Today's tutorial from Great Big Photography World (GBPW) takes a look at one specific camera setting that will deliver the best possible results in a  variety of situations.

For my photography I prefer small, lightweight, responsive cameras to big, heavy, bulky DSLRs. While small cameras once lagged behind DSLRs in image quality and performance, today’s compact cameras are challenging their dominance with great cameras like the Sony A7S IIPanasonic Lumix DMC-LX100Nikon P900 and the new, elegant retro Olympus Pen-F. These compact, bridge and hybrid cameras can even do things some big, bulky DSLRs can’t.

Fujifilm just announced the GFX100RF, a super-compact, large-sensor, fixed-lens camera that appears to have been conceived from a Vulcan Mind Meld between the Fujifilm GFX100S II and Fujifilm X100VI. In other words, it’s compact and nimble like the X100VI and at the same time delivers most of the benefits of the high resolution GFX100S II. Fujifilm clearly spent an extraordinary amount of time and resources in development and design, distilling all of the expertise they’ve collected producing both worldclass retro-style APS-C cameras and category-leading large-format system machines. Here’s the rundown on key features, pricing and availability.

If your eyes have glazed over by the countless videos out there comparing the latest smartphone cameras to real cameras, you’re not alone. The tipping point for photographer Evan Ranft was a video he saw comparing a Google Pixel smarthphone’s camera to a Hasselblad medium format camera.

It’s always fun to see what goes into making today’s innovative photography gear, and in the video below you’ll get a behind-the-scenes tour of a Fujifilm factory where cameras and lenses are manufactured.

The 24-megapixel Sony A6300 mirrorless camera is the follow-up to the A6000 from 2014 and, in that respect, it has some very big shoes to fill. The A6000 was one of the best-selling mirrorless cameras of all time and Sony is clearly hoping to strike gold with the A6300 as well.
