Nikon’s D850 DSLR Bumped to #2: Hasselblad’s X1D Mirrorless Camera Gets a DXOMark Score of 102

Earlier this month DXOMark named Nikon’s D850 as the best camera they’ve ever tested, giving it their first-ever score of 100. It turns out that the D850’s reign was short-lived, as the Hasselblad X1 D medium format mirrorless camera just received a DXOMark score of 102.

Admittedly, the 50MP Hasselblad X1D mirrorless body costs almost three times as much as the 47.5MP Nikon D850 DSLR. But with it’s unique, compact former factor and proven high-resolution sensor, the new DXOMark champion is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

In according top honors to the Hasselblad X1D, the folks at DXOMark say, “The camera reaches new heights for image quality, achieving the highest DXOMark score of 102 for any commercially available sensor we’ve tested.

The DXOMark analysis notes that the Hasselblad X1D excels in all three of their measurement categories, including portrait score, landscape score, and sports score (shown below in that order). They explain that while the X1D placed third in the portrait score, fractionally behind the 80MP Phase One IQ180 digital back, and the Nikon D850, “We can say they offer effectively the same color at base ISO in terms of real-world results.”
