Fujifilm Intros First Square-Format Instax Analog Instant Camera: the Instax Square SQ6
With instant film being one of its biggest photography markets, Fujifilm has squared off with a new model. Fujifilm just announced its first square-format analog Instax instant camera: the Instax Square SQ6. As its name would suggest, this sleek and style-minded little camera makes instant square photo prints.
“The square format film provides a wider photo range with 1:1 aspect ratio,” Fujifilm said in a press announcement. “This allows for more room to set the scene, enabling capture of the subject, its background and extending the range of artistic expression.”
Along with the SQ6 camera, Fujifilm released Instax Square black instant film. With its new black frame, the Square black instant film offers a distinctive look for an array of photo projects.
The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 comes in in three colors, which Fujifilm is calling Pearl White, Blush Gold and Graphite Gray.
The new Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 offers auto exposure control, in which the flash automatically calculates the surrounding brightness and adjusts shutter speed to capture both the subject and background with clarity, even when shooting in low light conditions, such as indoors or at a party, according to Fujifilm. Three color filters that fit over the flash in orange, purple and green are included to add a pop of color to the images.
Additionally, the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 camera can be set to a selfie mode which automatically adjusts focus and brightness. For added ease when taking selfies, a small mirror is located next to the lens so you can see yourself before you take the picture. Group photos are made easy with the built-in timer and the added tripod socket located at the bottom of the camera.
The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 offers three special modes. The double exposure mode is capable of superimposing two images onto a single film when the shutter button is pressed twice. The macro mode allows users to capture close-up images of subjects as close as 30cm and the landscape mode can be used to capture scenic photos.
