>Nikon Inc. announced two new lenses for professional and enthusiast photographers. The AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED lens is engineered to meet the demand for an ultra-fast professional lens for wide angle applications, while the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR offers Nikon’s widest FX-format focal range with VR.

Both lenses feature Nikon’s exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) technology for quiet, fast and accurate autofocus performance. The optical construction of both lenses also utilizes precision Nikon ED glass elements along with multiple aspherical elements to suppress chromatic aberrations resulting in sharp, high contrast images. Additionally, Nikon’s proprietary Nano-Crystal Coat minimizes instances of internal “ghosting” and flaring, further ensuring exceptional image integrity.

In a short press announcement this morning, Nikon said it's developing a forthcoming full frame (aka FX-format) professional DSLR called the Nikon D5. The D5 would be the follow-up to the 16-megapixel full frame Nikon D4S, which was announced in February 2014.

Nikon Inc. announced the addition of a new flagship speedlight, the SB-910. The SB-910 incorporates an enhanced and intuitive operating system and graphic user interface (GUI). The SB-910 speedlight comes equipped with a wide zoom range covering the most popular focal lengths as well as FX/DX-format identification that optimizes zoom settings based on the camera body. This new speedlight also provides a more efficient flash coverage and use of batteries as well as an enhanced Thermal Cut-Out function.

Nikon Instruments Inc. has announced that April 30th is the deadline for photomicrographers, scientists, artists, and the public to submit images for the 38th annual Nikon Small World competition, as well as the 2nd annual Nikon Small World in Motion contest.

The oldest and most respected competition of its kind, Nikon Small World celebrates the world's best photomicrographers, who successfully find the intersection of art and science under the microscope by using a variety of sophisticated microscopy techniques.

According to an announcement issued by Nikon UK, the company intends to concentrate its efforts on digital cameras and accessories, and plans to discontinue production of most film cameras, manual focus lenses and related accessories.

In something of a surprise, Nikon announced at the CES 2016 show today in Las Vegas that it’s entering the competitive action camera market with several forthcoming products. The first in Nikon’s new action camera lineup will be the oddly named Nikon KeyMission 360, a rugged camera capable of “recording true 360-degree video in 4K UHD allowing users to share new perspectives and explore imagery like never before,” Nikon said in a press statement.

Nikon just announced the  20.8-megapixel Nikon 1 J5, the newest mirrorless model in Nikon’s portable Nikon 1 compact system camera line. The biggest headline feature about the Nikon 1 J5 is its extremely fast 20 frames per second (fps) continuous burst shooting with full autofocus AF.

Nikon launched the 24.2-megapixel D7200 DSLR for photo enthusiasts and semi-professional photographers tonight. The D7200 uses an APS-C-sized “DX-format” CMOS sensor that’s essentially the same chip as the one in the previous model though it has been “slightly optimized” for the new DSLR, according to Steve Heiner, a Nikon USA spokesperson.

Nikon announced what is being called the world’s fastest 105mm prime lens today: the AF-S Nikkor 105mm F/1.4E. Nikon’s launch of the 105mm f/1.4 lens is timed to commemorate a particular achievement for the company, 100 million Nikkor lens units produced worldwide.

Nikon just took the wraps off two new super telephoto lenses: the AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4E FL ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4E FL ED VR. These two Nikkor lenses use the Nikon’s latest lens technologies for better autofocus (AF) tracking and improved optical performance, while being significantly lighter in weight than the previous models.

Nikon just unveiled the brand new D5600 DSLR at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo today. Photographers in the U.S., however, will have to wait a bit if they want to get their hands on this advanced amateur DSLR that uses a 24.2-megapixel, DX-format (APS-C) sensor.
