Microtek has announced that it is developing the ArtixScan M1, a combined flatbed
and film scanner for 35mm, 6cm, and 4x5-inch film formats that also offers additional
functionality to scan reflective art or prints as large as 8.5 by 14 inches.
Equipped with Microtek's patented Emulsion Direct Imaging Technology (E.D.I.T.),
4800-dpi optical resolution, 16-bit digital output per channel, auto focus,
and new film holders with tension technology, the Microtek ArtixScan M1 is said
to offer extraordinary value to photographers, photo enthusiasts, and graphic
designers in need of high-quality scans.

Microtek has announced the introduction of the 3,200-dpi ScanMaker 1000XL, said
to be the highest-resolution tabloid-size flatbed scanner on the market today.
Designed for professional applications, the ScanMaker 1000XL is ideal for production
environments in corporations, advertising agencies, publishing houses, medical
laboratories for X-ray imaging, and service bureaus. This large-format scanner
is available in two models -- the ScanMaker 1000XL Pro with Transparent
Media Adapter (TMA 1600) for dual reflective and transparency scanning, and
a standard package without the TMA for reflective media scanning only. Both
models feature Kodak DIGITAL ICE Photo Print Technology for automatically restoring
damaged photos.

Microtek USA is shipping the ScanMaker i800, a high-resolution scanner that
is said to combine professional features, versatility, power and convenience
at a great price. At $399, the unit can handle multiple film sizes including
24 frames of 35mm filmstrips , 12 mounted 35mm slides, two 4" x 5"
transparencies, and medium format up to 6 x 17 cm panoramic. With a maximum
film scanning area of 8" x 12" the i800 accepts large format film
and contact sheets as well. The scanner, which features 4800 x 9600 dpi optical
resolution and a 4.0 Dmax, allows users to create poster-size images from photos
and film. The ScanMaker i800 also features a large 8.5" x 14" reflective
scanning area to accommodate legal-size documents and batch scanning of photos.

Mitsubishi's Photo Imaging Division and X-Rite (NASDAQ: XRIT) today reaffirmed
their agreement to license ICC profiles created by X-Rite's MonacoPROFILER
software into Mitsubishi's family of digital photo printers. This agreement
provides professional photographers with higher levels of consistency and integration
between photographic printers and original images.


Mitsubishi Photo Imaging uses MonacoPROFILER software to build ICC profiles
for their key digital photo printers, all of which offer high speed, high resolution
photo quality prints. The ICC profiles greatly reduce the design-to-production
cycle, saving time and money. These ICC profiles can be downloaded from Mitsubishi's
website.

Canopus has announced Momento, the latest addition to its line of creative
software tools. Momento turns digital photos into an animated slideshow with
