Here’s a cool photography trick used to maximum effect. Dennis Stever is a Dubai-based photographer who is shooting an ongoing series where he positions his subjects so that it appears they are playing with the sun and the moon in their hands.

One activity many of us miss during this time of relative isolation is the opportunity to visit a theater and watch a great film. And especially for those who love photography, there’s no better way to do that at home than by watching the documentary Don’t Blink–Robert Frank.

Candid street photography is all about timing, and recognizing the precise moment your subject is perfectly positioned in the frame. It’s this ability to press the shutter in a split of a second that results in a great image.

A good friend once told me, “When you’re doing something, you’re not doing something else.” This Yogi Berra-ism is actually great advice. When considering a photo project, think about its commercial potential. You can spend a year photographing the slime left by snails at night, but does anyone want to see that? More importantly in this increasingly web-focused world, will they share it in their social media feeds?

To photograph the wild horses of the Outer Banks of North Carolina you have to deal with the fact that they are indeed wild and thus not particularly welcoming of a photographer’s attention.
But first you have to deal with the Outer Banks, a 200-mile stretch of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. “It’s important to have an awareness of time, tide, and weather,” Lisa Cueman says of the location. “You can get into your photography, but not so much that you lose a sense of your surroundings.”
