Sekonic and X-Rite have announced the release of the Sekonic X-Rite Digital
Suite. Combining the latest light metering technology from Sekonic with the
precision monitor calibration of the MonacoOPTIXXR, digital photographers can
be assured the images are captured and evaluated properly.
The Sekonic L-758DR/L-758D/L-758CINE DIGITALMASTER light meter has been designed
to offer the greatest digital exposure control, accuracy and repeatability.
The L--758 Series are the world's first multi-function light meter
that can be calibrated to match the sensitivity of a digital cameras sensor
at all ISO settings, flash/ambient or file format characteristics. In addition,
the camera sensor's dynamic range can also be set and stored for later
recall and display. Using the USB transfer cable and Sekonic DTS (Digital Transfer
Software), all camera exposure profile data is uploaded from a PC or MAC computer
to the L-758DR. Up to three different camera exposure profiles can be stored
and quickly recalled when switch from one camera to another. With its exposure
latitude warning indicators and adjustable Mid-Tone settings, the L-758 Series
puts the power of optimum image tonality and exposure control in the palm of
your hands.
Sekonic Corporation and X-Rite, Incorporated announced the availability the LITEMASTER PRO L-478D and L-478DR light meters bundled with the new special edition X-Rite-Sekonic Color Checker Passport with Sekonic Gray balance Card. Sekonic has announced the release of new Data Transfer Software for the L-758DR
exposure meter. The software is used to create and edit camera exposure profiles
and then transfer them to the L-758DR for extremely accurate control of exposure.
Along with the sensor's dynamic range, it records the unique variations of your
digital camera, such as the effects of shutter speed and aperture mechanisms
as well as the characteristics of the lens in use.

systems.
Sekonic announced a free downloadable upgrade to its L-758 Light Meter application software ("Sekonic Data Transfer Software" for Macintosh) and the USB driver for the latest versions of the Macintosh operating system: OS 10.7 (Lion) and OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Sekonic's new Version 2.1 Data Transfer Software is used to easily create and edit camera exposure profiles and then transfer them to the L-758DR DigitalMaster for extremely accurate control of exposure. Along with the sensor's dynamic range, it records the unique variations of a digital camera, such as the effects of shutter speed and aperture mechanisms as well as the characteristics of the lens in use. The Sekonic L-758DR is the only meter that can be calibrated to read light the way a particular camera system reads light.
The new Sekonic L-758DR DigitalMaster is the world's first multi-function
light meter than can be programmed to match the sensitivity of digital camera
sensors or types of film for perfect exposure control. The L-758DR DigitalMaster
offers all the features found on the popular L-558R DualMaster, however, that's
where the similarities end. From its inception, the L-758DR has been designed
from the ground up to address the needs of today's digital photographers.
In celebration of its 60th Anniversary, Sekonic announced limited edition L-308S Flashmate meters. Available in limited numbers are three bold metallic colors – red, green and blue. The pocket-sized Sekonic L-308S Flashmate is the smallest and lightest digital light meter in the Sekonic line-up. This Sekonic model is designed to read ambient or flash exposures in either reflected or incident modes, and displays accurate exposure readings in full, half, or third-stop increments to mirror the exposure settings of today's DSLR and film cameras. When set to full-stop mode, exposures are displayed in tenth-stop increments with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV.
Ideal for digital still photographers working with remote flash set ups, the new L-478DR model incorporates PocketWizard® wireless radio technology for in-meter power control of select studio flashes connected to PocketWizard ControlTL® receivers as well as standardtriggering with the entire PocketWizard wireless family of products. Both the L-478DR and L-478D are fully firmware upgradeable and use Sekonic’s breakthrough Data Transfer Software (DTS) system that automates meter calibration to the camera in use. In addition, an array of unique cine features put these meters in a class of their own.
PocketWizard radio technology enables reliable, fingertip control of remote flashes connected to PocketWizard ST4, MC2 and FlexTT5 ControlTL receivers and Nikon and Canon Speedlights connected to a PocketWizard FlexTT5 transceiver. Offered in both FCC (USA) and CE (Europe) frequencies, the LITEMASTER PRO L-478DR will support all ControlTL Channels and Zones (A, B, C). Power levels are easily controlled by touching or moving a finger over the L-478DR screen. Touching ControlTL Zone buttons marked A, B, or C allows the user to switch remote flashes on and off at the meter to make separate exposure measurements for easy adjustment of desired lighting ratios. Standard Channel and Quad Zone capability allow triggering all standard PocketWizard radios and flash units incorporating PocketWizard radio receivers. If you’re one of those photographers who thinks handheld light meters are relics from the bygone film era, think again. These powerful tools are just as important in the digital age as they’ve ever been.
Yesterday we featured a straightforward guide to using Selective Exposure adjustments to get the light right in complicated images with a wide range of brightness levels throughout the frame. Today's tutorial from another image-editing expert demonstrates how to take a similar approach with Lightroom's powerful Selective Color tools.
We regularly preach the importance of taking a selective, rather than a global, approach to processing your images. This simply means limiting your adjustments to specific portions of a scene that really need work, instead of making enhancements to the image as a whole.
