The George Eastman House is currently hosting the Innovation in the Imaging Capital exhibit from September 20, 2014 to January 4, 2015. The main focus of the show is the major contributions to the development of imaging technology made possible by the various inventions that were created—or developed—in the town of Rochester, New York. Since 1888 Rochester has been widely known as America's center for imaging innovation. 

Beyond learning how to handle cameras and photo equipment, working as a photo assistant will teach you many lessons that will go a long way toward helping you build a successful career. Skills you’d most likely garner include learning about project management, studio protocols, location procedures, dealing with clients, preproduction and postproduction work, and more. These are all essential business skills and can often be learned only “on the job.” Indeed, talk to many established pros today and you’ll find that’s how they got their start.

These days, digital technology dominates the world of photography and it has become nearly impossible to locate the film stocks we once loved and relied upon. Don’t give up hope just yet, Totally Rad has come to our rescue with their Replichrome I: Icon software. Offering a wide selection of presets that expertly duplicate the most iconic films from Kodak and Fuji you may now create images with the same look you once got from film. 

The Bronx River Art Center (located at 305 East 140^th Street, Bronx, NY 10460) will host the exhibit titled Lionel Cruet: In Between, Real And Digital—on view from September 19 to October 11, 2014. The exhibit, curated by Karine Duteil, will feature Cruet’s recent artworks that utilize digital platforms to encourage viewers to discuss geopolitics, nature and technology. Video is projected on to raw canvas to evoke water and other natural phenomena, an innovative presentation designed to blur the boundary line between virtual and real environments.
