Shutterbug Photo of the Day: “In Training” by Mark Cranston

Today’s Shutterbug Photo of the Day by Mark Cranston beautifully shows how people can fall in love with photography at an early age. Cranston is now in the running to win a $1,000 Canon Pixma Pro-1 photo printer or a $500 Gift Certificate from LensRentals.com in our April Photo of the Month contest. Details on how to enter here.

“This is a picture of my son at the Noah Purifoy Foundation in Joshua Tree California,” Cranston writes about the image. “We were out practicing our flash and lighting techniques with our friend Carl. This was a really fun evening, I love doing this type of photography. I have the image he took at the time and it's really nice, I wish that I could post it with this submission. He's already producing some amazing images at 6.”

Cranston used a Fuji X-T1 with an 18-55mm lens, and a Youngnuo YN560IV flash mounted on a generic monopod and Yongnuo RF-603NII triggers. His son is using an older Fuji S4000 that Cranston gave him last year.

You can see a larger version of Cranston’s image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day gallery here.

If you want to enter Shutterbug Photo of the Day, post an image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day Gallery and include your real name and some background on the image (how and where it was shot; the story behind the image; gear and settings used etc.) in the description field to qualify.

We will select one Shutterbug Photo of the Day image every month to run as a full-page feature in the magazine.
