Photokina and The New Center for the Imaging Professional

In the coming year, photokina will further intensify its strong support for imaging professionals. The supporting program, which is targeted at professional trade visitors, will also have a new concept.

"Meet the Professionals" at photokina will be newly positioned in Hall 4.1 and will be expanded to include product ranges that are also specifically targeted toward professional photographers and imaging specialists.

The exchange of views and ideas will be at the center of the new and expanded presentation of Meet the Professionals at photokina. Meet the Professionals provides room for discussions and is also the key meeting place for imaging professionals from around the world. With its central stage, it is both a dialogue platform and a marketplace that brings together what belongs together in the world of professional photography. The range of offerings will include Computer Generated Imaging (CGI), which celebrated its successful premiere at photokina 2008,  and is one of the topics that will have a considerable influence on the work of imaging professionals in coming years.

As in 2008, Professor Michael Jostmeier and his students from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, will be at photokina once again. Furthermore, the topic of CGI will also be expanded as a new sector in the form of a marketplace offering both service providers and producers of hardware and software the opportunity to present their expertise to an international trade audience. The product groups Large Format Printing and Fine Art Printing will, of course, also be of special interest to professionals. This is why photokina 2010 will conceptually integrate the suppliers and service providers from this segment in Meet the Professionals and will locate them as closely as possible.

The program will be enhanced with numerous workshops, seminars, and presentations on various topics covering the entire creative process of the imaging workflow, from image capture to printing. The professionals will also have an opportunity to engage in discussions and share ideas with the experts. And in addition to the publishers and associations that are geared toward imaging professionals, the “Imaging Center” for the exhibits of picture agencies and the special show “Underwater Imaging World,” which will make a presentation tailored to the needs of professionals, will also be located here. The central location within the exhibition center will also make it easy for visitors to reach the camera and printer manufacturers in Halls 2 to 5, as well as the suppliers of professional studio technology and professional equipment in Hall 9.
