$5,000 Reward: Be on the Lookout for This Photo Gear Stolen from The Camera Store in Calgary

We occasionally share interesting product reviews and instructional videos from our friends Chris Niccolls and Jordan Drake of TheCameraStoreTV YouTube channel. Both work at a premier photographic retailer in Calgary, Canada, aptly named The Camera Store, which was burglarized on December 16th. The store is offering a $5,000 shopping spree for any information that leads to a conviction.

Evidently, the thieves knew what they were looking for, because some very high-end items were stolen, including a rare Leica MP Safari Edition camera and a silver Hasselblad X1D camera body. Also taken were three Hasselblad XC lenses, including a 30mm f/3.5, 45mm f/3.5, and a 90mm f/3.5.

If you run across any of this gear, either locally in Calgary or online, you can call the store toll free at 1-888-539-9397. You can also contact Calgary police, referencing case #17539052, at 1-800-222-8477. If you’d prefer to remain anonymous, simply call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

You can read details about the theft, including serial numbers of the stolen items, on The Camera Store website. And to see some interesting work from Niccolls and Drake, check out their story we posted with a look back at the 2005 Sony DSC-R1 “bridge camera” that is one of the unsung ancestors of today’s modern mirrorless cameras.
