www.shutterbug.com: V. 2.0

The revised website at www.shutterbug.com is now online. This new iteration maintains all the archived stories of the past site—with postings from all our articles from over the past 12 years—plus new features that make searching easier, sharing more accessible, and now the ability for registered users to comment on all our postings. The new site is the result of hard work by numerous people from our team and we trust it will become one of your main sites for photographic news and views and research.

It all starts at our homepage, where new material is posted more frequently, and where you get access to our Forums, Galleries, Reviews, Techniques, and more by using our top line menu. Our web News Desk is also included, where we post press releases on the latest gear and services that keep you up-to-date. The Search function has been updated as well, and now you can easily find articles that have been posted in the past. This is your gateway to all our great content, plus some arcane but fascinating items that sit in our servers. Want to read a full report on the Mecaflex 35? Just type it into our Search box. Want to catch up on something more recent, like our review of the Sony Alpha A550? Just type it into the Search box.

Perhaps one of the most popular areas of the site is our Galleries, where readers get to post images in their own gallery or in general topics where like-minded photographers share their tools, techniques, and photos. This segment of the site also allows you to post comments on other users’ photos and read the comments on your own images. It is also allows registered users instant access to their own web gallery (all images you might have posted) plus the ability to share those images via popular sharing sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google, plus you can directly e-mail the images from the site. Also, check the Gallery listings often, as that’s where you gain access to posting images for contests, and more.

The best part about the advanced features of the site is that it’s completely free; all you need do is register, where you get your own private password and login name. If you just want to take a look at many features of the site you can do so without registering, but that means you won’t be able to post images or comments, enter contests, and more.

Speaking of websites, I’d also like to call your attention to the site of our sister publication, Petersen’s PHOTOgraphic (www.photographic.com). As you might know, we publish PHOTOgraphic on a quarterly basis and it’s only available on newsstands. At the site you can get a feeling for that exciting magazine, look at a sampling of great stories, and, if you wish, order back issues. PHOTOgraphic is now going strong in its third year, and many folks have created a collection of them as part of their essential photographic library.
