Canon held its once-every-five-years Canon Expo 2015 show in New York City last September where the Tokyo-based company pulled back the curtain on some potentially groundbreaking imaging technology. Part science lab and part marketing showcase, the event drew tens of thousands of buyers, dealers, and distributors of Canon products (along with a large group of journalists) eager to see what the company had up its sleeve.

Fujifilm just took the wraps off its new premium mirrorless camera: the X-Pro2. The flagship X-Series camera is the follow-up to Fuji’s X-Pro1 from 2012 and while it looks similar to that rangefinder-style model, the X-Pro2 adds a host of new features.

Midway in my talk with Daryl Hawk about his travel photography, he mentioned that it was relatively easy for him to approach people and get their okays for impromptu portrait sessions. “I’m polite, I know something of their culture, and I spend time with them,” he said. Then he added, “And I speak a universal language.”
