Fujifilm has launched a rocket that is likely to illuminate the sky for years to come. The new Fujifilm X half is a digital camera that captures images emulating those from a 35mm half-frame film camera. Featuring a 1-inch sensor, 10.8mm f/2.8 lens (32mm equiv), vertical orientation, Aperture Adjustment Ring, Frame Advance Lever and an abundance of other film-camera-like features, the Fujifilm X half appeals to an extraordinarily wide array of imagemakers.

Half-frame frenzy! Fujifilm has made it possible for users to realistically experience nearly every aspect of shooting a 35mm half-frame film camera, downloading the results in a way that simulates an authentic analog adventure and—as a bonus—creating 2-in-1 (diptych) images in-camera or via the snappy Fujifilm X half app. Using it is truly a fun trip, but questions remain.

The Hasselblad 907X 50C camera is so different from the sorts of cameras most of us shoot with, I feel like I almost need a new vocabulary to describe it. If a visitor from Area 51 handed me the device used on their planet to take pictures, I’d expect it to strongly resemble this ‘blad. It is at once familiar and yet radically different. Using it made me feel like I was at Disney’s World of Tomorrow exhibit, sampling the future and finding it surprisingly intuitive.

Apple offers two models of the iPad Pro. On the surface (no reference to Microsoft intended) the difference appears to be primarily the size: 12.9 vs. 9.7 inches, but there’s much more to it. The price difference is $200, which is not small change, but less important in the overall scheme of things. I am buying one or the other—and I am asking you folks who own an iPad Pro to weigh in and tell us which model you bought and why.
