Strong Presence Of North American Photo Imaging Companies At photokina 2006

Based on early commitments by North American exhibitors, photokina 2006 holds a lot of promise for photo and imaging companies from the United States and Canada. photokina will take place from Sept. 26 -- Oct. 1, 2006 in Cologne, Germany.

Longtime U.S. exhibitors like Kodak and HP will be joined by other flagship names like Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Apple, Adobe and Avid. In total, the organizer expects more than 100 U.S. companies to present their merchandise in Cologne. Chicago based Koelnmesse, Inc., subsidiary of the organizer, will organize two U.S. Group Exhibits. So far more than 20 U.S. companies have booked space in the USA Pavilions, among them Micron and Texas Instruments. Said Mette Petersen, President & Managing Director of Koelnmesse, Inc.: "This time around we are offering product specific USA Pavilions in highly visible locations. Our two USA Pavilions will be in the photokina Halls 4 "Cameras and Software" as well as Hall 6 "Studio Equipment, Storage and Accessories". We are seeing a stronger demand for space than during past events, an indication that the sustained dollar weakness is building export momentum for our U.S. exhibitors."

The biennial photokina is organized and produced by Koelnmesse GmbH and the German Photo Industry Association. The event is unique as it reflects the entire chain associated with recording, storage, processing, transfer and presentation of images. Continues Petersen: " photokina 2006 will be different as we no longer define the exhibit halls by professional and consumer sections. Now, the event provides halls for five main areas which are Input Devices, Storage/Processing, Output Devices, Service/Transfer and Accessories/Consumables. The new halls will make navigation between those areas much easier than in the past. All halls are now to the left and right of a main connecting walkway almost like in a shopping mall. This will make it much easier for our visitors to find what they are looking for. The times of blistering feet are over now".

Overall, Show Management expects around 1,600 companies from 60 countries and 160,000 attendees. Visitor will be dealers, distributors, retailers, industry buyers as well as non-professional users of photographic, imaging and consumer electronics products.
