Shutterbug Photo of the Day: “Night Fall” by Kevin Byrne

Today’s Shutterbug Photo of the Day is a cascading capture by Kevin Byrne. Byrne is now in the running to win a $1,000 Canon Pixma Pro-1 photo printer or a $500 Gift Certificate from LensRentals.com in our April Photo of the Month contest. Details on how to enter here.

“This image was found just after sunset on the east side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Criglersville, VA,” Byrne writes. “A few miles of driving along a continuous cascade lead us to a single lane bridge, the perfect spot for a tripod. The photo is a direct from the camera capture with no post processing.”

He adds that exposure was at f/22 for the depth of field, and a 30-second shutter time was used to create “the ethereal, almost neon effect in the cascade.”

Byrne shot the images with a Canon EOS-1D Mark II, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens (at 28mm), 30s at f/22, ISO 100; automatic white balance.

You can see a larger version of Short’s image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day gallery here.
