Fujifilm has announced the launch of the FinePix S9100, the latest model in
Fujifilm's SLR-styled digital camera line-up and successor to the FinePix
S9000. The FinePix S9100 features a 10.7x Fujinon optical zoom lens, nine MegaPixel
Fujifilm Super CCD sensor and ISO 80-1600 capabilities.

The camera's high sensitivity range, made possible by Fujifilm's
Real Photo Technology, enables FinePix S9100 users to capture images using natural
light in a wide variety of lighting conditions. In addition, Fujifilm's
Picture Stabilization technology uses the heightened sensitivity of the FinePix
S9100 and high-speed shutter settings to reduce blur caused by camera shake
and subject movement. This easy-to-access feature is selectable on the mode
dial and allows the FinePix S9100 to choose the correct light sensitivity and
best-matching shutter speed automatically for the highest quality digital pictures.

Jobo AG announces today the immediate availability of a firmware update to
its award-winning GIGA Vu PRO evolution digital image storage and viewing device.
This firmware 2.0.4 update includes the new JD Loupe, Incremental Back-up and
increased RAW Format compatibility and is available for free download at http://www.jobo.com/jobo_service/digital/index.html.
In addition, all GIGA Vu PRO evolution units shipped from now on will feature
this latest firmware.

The new JD Loupe (the brain child of National Geographic photographer and loyal
GIGA Vu PRO evolution user Jay Dickman) provides users of this mobile image
storage device with a button in the unit's zoom menu that causes a magnified
rectangular loupe to appear on the LCD screen so photographers can closely examine
important details of their pictures.

In addition there is a new easy-to-use one-touch-software-update called Incremental
Back-up (the brain child of wildlife photographer and loyal GIGA Vu PRO evolution
user Andy Rouse). This update allows users who transfer the data stored on their
GIGA Vu PRO evolution via Incremental Back-up to an external storage device
such as the Jobo GIGA one, to automatically synchronize the data on both devices
with just one touch. The new data will be added to the external device without
deleting any already existing data on the device.

With this new update, the GIGA Vu PRO evolution now features RAW compatibility
with even more camera models from manufacturers including Canon, Casio, Contax,
Fuji, Hasselblad, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Leica (the GIGA Vu PRO evolution can
decode the Leica M8 RAW), Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Samsung, Sigma,
and Sony. And Jobo continues to test more camera models for compatibility on
a regular basis at the request of their customers. A full list of currently
compatible camera models is available on the Jobo AG Web site (www.jobo.com).

FotoNation has announced "ChromaFix" a new one-step chromatic aberration
correction technology. ChromaFix brings advanced image processing technology
normally found in much higher-priced cameras to low-cost low-power devices,
including consumer digital cameras and camera phones. ChromaFix is offered in
several configurations: a software-only solution or coupled with FotoNation's
IP-Core hardware acceleration technology to achieve maximum performance.

Higher-end digital cameras often include sophisticated glass lenses that minimize
aberrations. Low-cost consumer-level cameras and camera phones have different
price/performance dynamics, resulting in lower quality optics through the use
of plastic lenses. With ChromaFix, consumers can get high-quality results at
a low cost.

An example of chromatic aberrations is the occurrence of purple fringes around
high contrast edges in a photo, which is the result of a misalignment of the
red, green and blue wave-lengths of light during focusing. The prevalence of
purple fringing is dependent on the design of the optical system in the camera,
including: optical light path, lens materials, aperture of the exposure and
the design of the image processing system executed during image capture. The
purple color results from the fact that most lens designs are optimized to focus
based on the green wave lengths of light. The blue and red wavelengths of light
fall out of focus and overlap, producing a purple color due to the additive
properties of color perception (blue and red result in purple).
