Panasonic just unveiled the newest addition to its rugged TS Series of compact cameras, the LUMIX TS7, which is designed for shooting in tough, wet and wild conditions.

Panasonic said at the photokina show in Germany today that it has developed two full frame mirrorless cameras: the 47MP S1R and the 24MP S1. According to Panasonic, these models are equipped with the “world's first: 4K 60p/50p video recording function and the Dual I.S. image stabilization system."

Panasonic has introduced the LUMIX DMC-ZS10 with a 24mm ultra-wide-angle and powerful 16x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens. It features full-High Definition 1920x1080 video recording capability, a newly-adopted large 3.0-inch, and a 460,000-dot Smart Touch Intelligent LCD – which allows for Touch Zoom, Touch Auto Focus (AF), Touch Shutter, and Touch Playback. The LUMIX ZS10 also features a built-in GPS (Global Positioning System) function allowing geotagged images to be pinpointed via online maps and easily shared with friends and families.

Panasonic has announced the expansion of its SD Memory Card line with the addition
of three new memory cards. The flagship of the company's expanded line is
the "PRO HIGH SPEED" Series 2GB SD Memory Card that features up to
20MB/s data transfer rate. It is joined by the 1GB "HIGH SPEED" card
with up to 5MB/s data transfer rate and a 512MB miniSD Card with a data transfer
rate of up to 2MB/s. All three cards are expected to be available in the United
States in August.



Panasonic's new 2GB "PRO HIGH SPEED Series" SD Memory Card is
expected to be launched in the United States in August 2005, with a manufacturer's
suggested retail price of $319.99. With an outstanding data transfer rate of up
to 20MB/s and its 2GB storage capacity, the new Panasonic card is designed to
meet tough requirements including high speed consecutive shooting by high-end
digital still cameras and MPEG2 video recording by camcorders.



Panasonic also adds the 1GB SD Memory Card to its existing "HIGH SPEED Series"
of cards. With a data transfer rate of up to 5MB/s, the new model is expected
to be available in August 2005 in the United States, at a manufacturer's
suggested retail price of $129.99.

Panasonic has introduced the new LUMIX 7.2-megapixel DMC-FX50 and DMC-FX07 digital
still cameras, and also the 6-megapixel DMC-FX3, the world's first to feature
Intelligent ISO Control (IIC) to correct image blurriness caused by movement of
the subject matter. The FX50 will have an MSRP of $399.95, the FX07 will have
an MSRP of $349.95 and the FX3 will have an MSRP of $279.95.

Our Picture This! assignment this month was “Panoramics,” and we asked readers to send us a wide view unattainable by using a single lens, or to crop a wide shot so it had an aspect ratio that mimicked the format. The eye cannot possibly see all that a panoramic photo offers in one glimpse, whether it be in looking at the print or especially in the field.
