Some classic slide films never goes out of style. Or at least that’s what Lomography is hoping now that it’s now brought back Agfa CT Precisa color 35mm slide film. Best known the cool blue tone effect it produces in photos – such as the pumped up blues in images of skies – Agfa CT Precisa also has a fine grain quality and is available in ISO 100.

Even though the new Pentax K-3 offers a very robust and massive body, it is quite compact; it’s only slightly larger than the ultra-compact Canon EOS Rebel SL1, although it’s almost double the weight. Using 92 O-rings and seals, the camera is splashproof and the covers that protect the card slots, interfaces, and battery look very robust and inspire confidence. The sealing doesn’t allow for use of the Pentax as an underwater camera, but it is certainly well protected for use even in a very hard rain.

Fashion has many faces, from the normal casual outfit of jeans and tops to the extremes of fanciful designer creations. Fashion photography captures it all but the vision we see in the hottest magazines (rather than store advertisements) is often associated with the avant-garde runway style. In Fashion Photography Next by Magdalene Keaney, the viewer is presented with images that can be best described as bold and ultra modern (even a bit strange but always wonderfully memorable).

American photographic artist Janelle Lynch had the honor of being the first Artist-in-Residence at the Burchfield Penney Art Center located in Buffalo, New York. (The Art Center is only museum dedicated to the art of noted American painter Charles E. Burchfield and the artists of Western New York.) Captivated and ultimately drawn to the area by Burchfield’s work, Lynch also found creative inspiration for her verdant photos in Henry David Thoreau’s nature writings and philosophy, which suggests that the natural world is made up of spirits and is part of a far greater spirituality.

Canon took the wraps off two new compact, superzoom cameras this morning: the PowerShot SX520 HS and the PowerShot SX400 IS digital cameras. The new PowerShot SX520 HS features a whopping 42x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent to 24-1008mm) and the PowerShot SX400 IS has a 30x Optical Zoom (equivalent to 24-720mm).

San Francisco-based photographer Richard Nagler’s career spans nearly 40 years and in that time, his images have become a treasured part of many private and public collections. For this latest book project, titled Looking At Art: The Art Of Looking, Nagler stationed himself in front of various art works in museums across the globe.
