Photographer and writer, Jaymi Heimbuch has a profound interest in wildlife and nature. Her goal is to create images that trigger an emotional connection with viewers, and which spur us all to be stewards of nature. Here at Shutterbug we like to keep an eye on the selfie photography phenomenon in all its wacky strangeness. We’ve reported on everything from Olivia Muus’ spoof of famous museum portraits taking selfies to the hilarious, faux PSA warning of selfie stick abuse.

The 16-megapixel Fujifilm X-T10 mirrorless camera reminds me of the old Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial (bear with me Millennials) where two strangers—one eating peanut butter and one eating chocolate—bump into each other and somehow smash their food together. After a brief bit of yelling (“you got your peanut butter on my chocolate!” “you got your chocolate in my peanut butter”) they realize that the combination is better than the individual elements.

The concept isn’t new. Gamers have been using dedicated yokes, rudder pedals and throttles with Flight Simulator and aerial combat games for at least three decades. Even Super Mario racing games can be purchased with steering wheel controllers. But the Palette Kit from Canadian firm Palette is the most comprehensive set of alternative input hardware interfaces for Lightroom and Photoshop ever.

The poor Nikon D750 just can’t catch a break. Nikon issued another service advisory for the semi-pro DSLR today, noting that some of the cameras may have malfunctioning shutters that can affect image quality.

When we first told you about Affinity Photo back in February, the software’s parent company, Serif, had launched a free beta version of the app that garnered tons of attention from photographers seeking to leave the subscription-based Photoshop CC behind. That beta has ended and now a final version of Affinity Photo is available for Mac computers.

Ernst Haas was a pioneering photographer who broke through the black-and-white glass ceiling with his superb color photography. He changed the way color was thought of and how it was used. And the change began in 1953 when his color work burst on the scene when Life magazine published Haas’ stunning color essay about New York titled “Images of a Magic City.”
