What to Do When Your Wife Gets Jealous that You’re Photographing Women: One Couple’s Approach (VIDEO)

Photographer Manny Ortiz and his pretty model wife Diana are our one of our favorite couples on YouTube for helpful photography tips videos. This week they take a slightly different approach in discussing a potentially touchy subject: what do you do when your partner is uncomfortable with you photographing someone of the opposite sex?

In the 7-minute video below, provocatively titled “My Wife Won’t Let Me Photograph Women,” Manny and Diana discuss how they came to terms with issues of jealously that both of them felt.

“In this video, Diana and I talk about a very common question we get from other photographers in which their significant other feels uncomfortable with them photographing someone from the opposite sex,” Manny explains. “It might sound silly to most photographers but in this day and age, this is something that a lot of people go through when diving into portrait photography!”

It was actually Manny who got jealous initially because Diana was getting lots of attention from men as a model. The shoe then went on the other foot when Manny took up photography himself, and began to take portraits of other women for his work. Diana felt slighted.

“When Manny told me he wanted to start photographing other women, of course I was upset with him because I felt that was something he had taken from me,” Diana explains.
