This Is the Simple Secret to Great Landscape Photos: Give Them a Cinematic Look

If you want to draw people into your landscape photos, there's an easy way to do that. Make your images look like something you'd see in the movies.

In the below tutorial, photographer Mark Denney shares his simple secrets for creating cinematic landscape photos using Lightroom.

"Perhaps one of the more popular trends in photography over the past few years is this desire to create a more cinematic look to emulate the coloring effects that we've become accustomed to in movies," Denney says.

"Now what exactly constitutes the cinematic look is definitely up for debate and there's certainly multiple different ways to add this look to your landscape photos. In this video, I want to share with you the ways that I've found to add a cinematic look to my photos using Lightroom. These photo editing tips can be applied in any post processing system you prefer or are most comfortable with, it doesn't necessarily need to be done within Lightroom. Applying a cinematic edit to your landscape photos is a very subjective thing and I don't believe there's a right or a wrong way to apply this simple look. Due to the subjective nature of a cinematic look, there isn’t a one size fits all approach, but by knowing the common characteristics of this look you can begin experimenting with your own landscape photos."
