Continuing its courtship of professional and advanced amateur photographers
who wish to make their own prints, Hp has announced the amateur-oriented 8350,
an A3 (13x19) size, 6-ink printer, and two new large format DesignJet printers,
models 2100 and 3100, both of which are available in 24 in and 44 in models.
The difference is that the 2100 is an 8-ink printer and the Z3100 is a 12-ink
printer.
While film news here will be scant, Kodak did introduce two new color negative
films, actually updates on their professional Portra emulsions in the ISO 100
and 400 speeds. There are four in all, with two being NC ("natural color")
and two being VC ("vivid color.") The retouching layer has been eliminated
from the back side of the film, making them eminently more scannable. Kodak says
that it has incorporated all their latest research into these films making them
finer grain, sharper and with better color and dynamic range than films in the
past. True, if there's one thing film has over digital it is the ability
to handle a wider exposure range, especially in the highlight values.
Eastman Kodak Company has announced four new innovative and user-friendly products
to the C and V lines of EASYSHARE Digital Cameras, including The KODAK EASYSHARE
V705 Dual Lens Digital Camera -- the world's smallest ultra-wide-angle
optical zoom digital camera, and the KODAK EASYSHARE C875 Zoom Digital Camera,
with 8.0 MP, 5X all glass SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH optical zoom lens.
Kodak designed the V705 to include KODAK RETINA Dual Lens Technology, which
touts two 7 MP sensors, anti-blur technology and KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology.
The V705 offers 5X optical zoom range and automatically adjust its setting when
choosing from 22 scenes and three color modes. Picture takers can even capture
up to 180 degrees with only 3 shots. The video features include the ability
to record VGA video (640 x 480) at 30 fps with sound, and convenient on-camera
video editing tools can be used to trim clips and create prints from video (4,
9 or 16 up), plus view and share single frames.
Specially designed for digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor,
this large aperture f/2.8 lens has a compact and lightweight construction of
76.3mm (3.0") in diameter, 132.6mm (5.2") in length and weighing
just 780g (27.5oz) (Nikon Mount).
Fujifilm has announced the launch of the FinePix S9100, the latest model in
Fujifilm's SLR-styled digital camera line-up and successor to the FinePix
S9000. The FinePix S9100 features a 10.7x Fujinon optical zoom lens, nine MegaPixel
Fujifilm Super CCD sensor and ISO 80-1600 capabilities.
The camera's high sensitivity range, made possible by Fujifilm's
Real Photo Technology, enables FinePix S9100 users to capture images using natural
light in a wide variety of lighting conditions. In addition, Fujifilm's
Picture Stabilization technology uses the heightened sensitivity of the FinePix
S9100 and high-speed shutter settings to reduce blur caused by camera shake
and subject movement. This easy-to-access feature is selectable on the mode
dial and allows the FinePix S9100 to choose the correct light sensitivity and
best-matching shutter speed automatically for the highest quality digital pictures.

Kingston Technology Company, Inc. has announced it will begin producing the new
Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Class 2 card and enhance the function of its
existing 15-in-1 Reader. The new SDHC memory cards are available now in 4GB capacities
with a retail price of $199.00.
The SDHC memory card is a new standard set by the SD Card Association that redefines
performance classifications and capacity. Based on this standard, SDHC cards can
deliver capacities beyond the 2GB threshold of present day SD cards and offer
three speed classes (Class 2, 4, & 6) that guarantee minimum sustained transfer
rates to support large digital video recordings for optimum performance. SDHC
cards will only be recognized by SDHC host devices; manufacturers currently offering
SDHC host cameras include: Canon, Pentax, Sanyo, Casio and Nikon. Kingston will
add SDHC compatibility for its popular 15-in-1 Reader at the time of this launch.
The retail price for the reader will remain $19.00.
