New Photo Show: Lionel Cruet: In Between

The Bronx River Art Center (located at 305 East 140th Street, Bronx, NY 10460) will host the exhibit titled Lionel Cruet: In Between, Real And Digital—on view from September 19 to October 11, 2014. The exhibit, curated by Karine Duteil, will feature Cruet’s recent artworks that utilize digital platforms to encourage viewers to discuss geopolitics, nature and technology. Video is projected on to raw canvas to evoke water and other natural phenomena, an innovative presentation designed to blur the boundary line between virtual and real environments.

I was passionately interested in photographing the men and women who still follow the traditions of Western horsemanship. They all share an almost mystical love of their equine counterparts and the art of riding. Over a 14-year period I seasonally photographed the Western riders and titled the work the Equestrian West.

Say What? U.S. Government Wants to Charge You $1,500 for Photographing in Wilderness Areas

In a move that is sure to spark outrage amongst nature and wildlife photographers, the U.S. Forest Service wants photographers to pay for a $1,500 permit if they plan to shoot images on Federally-owned wilderness areas. Permits would be required even if you’re shooting images or video with a smartphone.
