Nikon Intros Z 30: Affordable DX-Format Mirrorless Camera with Plenty to Offer

If you’re about to make the switch to mirrorless, or looking for an affordable backup camera for the system you already own, the new Nikon Z 30 deserves your attention. This is the smallest, lightest Z Series camera that Nikon has ever made, yet it offers a wide range of advanced features.

While Nikon touts the new Z 30 as a perfect model for vloggers and other content creators, it also offers everything most still photographers require—especially those on a budget. At the heart of the new model is an APS-C/DX-Format CMOS sensor designed to deliver sharp, detailed images under all lighting conditions,

The Z 30 is a compact all-rounder that can be used for everything from portraiture to nature photography. And with impressively fast performance at 11fps, it will also deliver the goods when shooting sports, action, and wildlife imagery. It’s a camera that you can carry comfortably all day in the field, thanks to its lightweight and compact dimensions.

The Z 30 features a sharp, front-facing, vari-angle touch-screen, making it ideal for vloggers (as well as for still photographers who feel compelled to shoot selfies). Content creators will also appreciate the camera’s 20 Picture Control Auto functions that make it easy for users to add interesting effects.

The new Nikon Z 30 also enhances audio content thanks to a built-in stereo microphone, with an input for using more powerful or directional external mics. And it’s usually possible to get everything you need in one take, with more than two hours of recording time.

Other key features of the new Z 30 include superior low-light capabilities, with a maximum ISO of 51,200 for stills, and 25,600 for video. The camera is also said to deliver extremely fast and precise autofocus acquisition, with the added benefit of Eye Detection AF.

The new Nikon Z 30 is expected to be available in July, with a body-only price of $709.95. Two kits will also be offered; one with the Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 for $849.95, and a two-lens option adding the Nikkor DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 for $1,199.95.
