We took this photo in October 2015 during a visit to the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, B.C. We used the Nikon D750 with the Nikon 70-200 f/4 lens. These snow geese were in the process of migration from Russia to the US and every year they make a stop near the sanctuary to rest and feed on the surrounding farms.
While the weather was perfect during our visit, the geese were quite inactive, until a loud noise spooked the geese and they all started to lift off at the same time. It was fantastic to see that in person. On a side note, the geese patiently waiting at the bottom look a lot like bowling pins! :)
