3 Mistakes Landscape Photographers Often Make & How to Avoid Them (VIDEO)

Landscape photographer Mark Denney recently stumbled across an old file on an old computer that contained his "favorite" images from his early days as a landscape photographer. It was an eye-opening experience for him, to say the least.

"As I reviewed these images I noticed the same three compositional mistakes repeated over and over," he says. "If you haven't taken the time to review your images from the past in order to compare them to your photos from the present, I highly recommend that you do. This is an incredible way to see your photographic progression within your specific genre of photography."

In the video, Denney takes a look at those "favorite" old images of his that are no longer his favorites, and reviews the three compositional mistakes that beginning landscape photographers often make, including him just a few years ago.

#2 Busy Edges

#3 Bad Horizons

"The funny thing about these mistakes is that not only are they very avoidable, but I would have been able to resolve them much sooner had I known about them at the time," he notes. "The three issues I noticed in my older photos are all compositional mistakes that generally impact most beginners at one point or another, but once you know about them they're easy to fix. "
