Imagenomic announced today the commercial release of Portraiture 2 for Aperture.  This new product edition brings the power, productivity and creative flexibility that Portraiture has delivered for the Photoshop community to users of Apple's Aperture digital imaging workflow environment.

Portraiture 2 for Aperture is a newly-engineered version that fits seamlessly into Aperture digital image management, editing and output.   Special features include:
· Automatic Skin Tones Mask generation and “One-click” skin retouching through a new Preset Manager, which includes image thumbnail previews, bracketing controls, custom preset creation and file sharing, notations, and visual history states;
· Advanced Skin Masking controls for selecting, feathering and refining the retouching area, edges and tonal ranges of the selected mask, including real-time previews;
· Enhancement sliders and settings for sharpness, softness, warmth, tint, brightness and contrast control, with the ability to apply these selectively to the mask area only or to the entire image, e.g. for adjusting lighting effects in software;
· Industry-leading non-destructive editing and data integrity preservation for image repurposing and superior print quality;
· Extended output options, including dynamic retouching settings optimized for the intended size of the print output;
· New User Interface selection options, multiple image batch processing capabilities, and multi-threaded/multi-processor support for maximum retouching speed and performance.

On a visit to see my daughter’s family in southern Alabama, I took along my photo gear, as usual. My son-in-law knows I have a particular affinity for places and things that people just walk away from. The QuadroPod introduced by Novoflex is a four-leg tripod system.  The foundation of this system is a totally new design for a tripod collar that - thanks to its modular construction - can be equipped with different leg variations. Aluminum or carbon legs with 3 or 4 sections are available. Working heights from 2.8“ up to 70.9“ are possible with the current leg types. Moreover, additional leg types are under development, enabling working heights up to 91“. In addition, the different leg versions can be combined with each other and supplemented with clips/clamps, suction and screw-in-items from the Novoflex program.

Lensbaby announced a new 0.42x Super Wide Lens for use with their new line of selective focus lenses – The  Composer, The Muse, The Control Freak and their companion Lensbaby Optic Swap System consisting of Double Glass, Single Glass, Plastic, and Pinhole/Zone plate interchangeable optics.  The .42x Super Wide lens has optics that are optimized for use with Lensbaby lenses, eliminating the diffusion and reducing the vignetting that occur when industry standard wide angle conversion lenses are used with a Lensbaby lens.

Panasonic has introduced the DMC-GH1, the newest member of the company’s LUMIX G Micro System. Compatible with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the new LUMIX GH1 features advanced video photography functions, such as the ability to record High Definition (HD) AVCHD 1080p/24p video.  In addition, the new LUMIX GH1 comes with a newly developed long-zoom interchangeable lens – the LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S.  This lens was specifically designed to support HD movie recording and features a silent motor and continuous auto focusing (AF) capability; two features which distinguish the LUMIX GH1 from DSLRs that offer HD video recording capabilities.
