Canon joined the full frame mirrorless camera market by introducing the new 30.3MP Canon EOS R last night and today we had our first chance to take it for a ride. Shutterbug is one of a select group of U.S. media to attend a special Canon R launch event in Hawaii and we spent the afternoon shooting with a full production Canon R and the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM “kit” lens at set-ups with models in Maui.

We love photographer Mark Smith’s wildlife videos not only because they capture nature in action with rich detail, but they also tell a story that’s highly educational. In the below clip, Smith uses the Nikon D850 and D500 DSLRs to record the life or hummingbirds feeding on nectar from thistle plants.

Let’s say you wanted to attend next week’s Portrait Masters Conference + Expo in Phoenix, AZ but realized that it’s already sold out. Or let’s say, you just didn’t have the time (or money) to fly to the show, book a hotel etc. and check out all the portrait photography classes and presentations from respected photographers and educators, but are still interested in the content.

I’ve spent some time in Wisconsin – I used to go water skiing with my cousins on Lake Geneva – and I always thought of it as a beautiful if, somewhat, underrated state. But I never knew how beautiful the Badger State really was until I watched Chris Biela’s gorgeous 4K time-lapse titled “Close,” which he first started shooting in the summer of 2017 and just completed.
