Zev Hoover is an 18-year-old photographer based in Massachusetts with more ingenuity than money. So when he became fascinated by the quality inherent to large format still photography, and wondered about the possibility of shooting stills and video with an 8X10 relic, he had only one option: Build it himself.

Zeiss has just added three fast prime lenses to their Milvus line of premium manual-focus lenses for DSLR cameras—a 15mm f/2.8, an 18mm f/2.8 and a 135mm f/2 telephoto. This expands the respected Milvus line to nine lenses offering optimum image characteristics, premium coatings, smooth bokeh, and uncompromising build quality.

Bentley Motors created a mind-blowing 53,000-megapixel image to promote their $330,000 Mulsanne luxury car driving across San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge. While the shot above just looks like a nice scenic, if you zoom in on the image with the interactive controls provided, you can actually see the stitching on the car’s sumptuous leather seats. And if you have the patience, you can even count the 4,500 individual stitches in the embroidered headrest logo.

Now that most of us are shooting with high-resolution cameras, the need to upscale our image files isn’t as pervasive as it was a few years ago. But occasionally we still need to res-up an image that’s been cropped significantly, and there’s a freeware program that’s designed to do that and more.
