Canon unveiled a premium portable camera at photokina this morning: the 20MP PowerShot G7 X, which uses a large (for a compact model) 1-inch CMOS image sensor and features a multi-angle (up to 180°), flip-up, 3-inch touch capacitive, rear LCD panel with 1,040K dots of resolution.

It took them a while but Canon is finally bringing its EOS M3 mirrorless camera system to the U.S. in October 2015. The 24.2-megapixel M3, which uses the same APS-C CMOS sensor as in the Canon Rebel T6 and T6i DSLRs, was launched globally last February but the company held off bringing it here for undisclosed reasons.

Canon USA announced this morning that it has expanded its respected Explorers of Light professional photography education program to include five new members. Those members include the following pro photographers: landscape photographer Erin Babnik, car photographer Larry Chen, wedding and portrait photographer Sal Cincotta, wedding and portrait photographer Vanessa Joy, and outdoor photographer Zak Noyle.

Canon just unveiled the 6D Mark II, a relatively compact and lightweight DSLR fitted with a 26.2-megapixel, full frame CMOS sensor. The Canon EOS 6D Mark II, as the name suggests, is the long-awaited follow-up to the popular 6D, which was announced in 2012.

Canon made some unexpected lens news overnight: the company introduced the lightweight and compact Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM standard lens. This fixed focal length lens is designed for advanced amateur photographers and has an effective focal length of 80mm when paired with an APS-C sensor-based EOS camera such as the Canon Rebel T6i.

Yes, the rumors were true. Canon just launched two new full frame digital SLRs with the highest resolution yet: the 50.6-megapixel Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R. Both DSLRs feature 35mm-sized CMOS sensors and Dual DIGIC 6 image processors.
