SanDisk Launches Largest Capacity SD Card in the World: 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-1

SanDisk has launched what the company is calling "the world's largest SD Card": the 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I. SanDisk also recently announced the speedy SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 memory card. Each card offers increased capacity, enhanced durability and new features that make them suited for professional photographers and videographers.

The new SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I ($799) is a powerful, durable, high capacity memory card. Representing a 1000-fold capacity increase in just over a decade, it delivers write speeds up to 90 MB/s and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) recording speed for high resolution, real-world color and stutter free 4K ultra HD video (3840x2160).

The Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I provides transfer speeds up to 95 MB/s for a fast, efficient post-production workflow and features designed for pro-level action. Created to be temperature, water, shock and x-ray proof this memory card has a RescuePRO Deluxe data recovery software download offer and a lifetime limited warranty. It is available in capacities of 512GB and 128GB. The 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I memory card has a retail value of $799.99.

The new SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 120GB memory card (price TBD) is ideal for use with high-performance cameras and camcorders. This 128GB card offers a shot speed of up to 440MB/s and data transfer speeds of up to 515MB/s for a fast, efficient workflow. The Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 card has the speed, capacity and performance needed to record cinema quality 4K video (4096x2160p) in storage capacities of up to 128GB. ARRI—a leading motion picture equipment manufacturer—recently named the SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 card as its choice for the ALEXA and AMIRA cameras. The new SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 memory card will be available in October at select photo specialty stores.
