Last week we wrote about What The Lens, a new website designed to help Canon shooters choose the lens that’s best for their style of photography. One question we’re frequently asked is, “Should I buy a zoom lens or a prime?” And like many age-old questions, the answer is “It depends.” To give you thoughtful response we’d want to know your budget, the type of photography you do, whether or not you frequently shoot in low-light conditions, and how much gear you’re willing to lug around in the field.

One of the key selling points of today’s DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and even some high-end compacts is the remarkable video capabilities they offer. And perhaps the first accessory you’ll want once you start shooting video is a stabilizer to smooth out the motion.

Here’s an interesting video in which Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza explains how he makes such intimate images of President Obama who considers him a friend. In the past Souza was an Official White House Photographer for President Reagan and a freelancer for National Geographic. He also worked for the Chicago Tribune in their Washington bureau.
