When Fujifilm said at the photokina show in Cologne, Germany last year that its forthcoming 51.4-megapixel GFX mirrorless medium format camera would sell for “way under $10,000,” they weren’t lying.

Fuji has introduced three new digicams at PMA 2006, the FinePix F30, the FinePix
F650, and the FinePix A600. Perhaps the most interesting is their new FinePix
F30. It incorporates Fujifilm's second era of Real Photo Technology, containing
a sixth generation Super CCD sensor and the RP Processor II. This 6.3 MP FinePix
F30 is the world's first point-and-shoot digital camera for consumers with full-resolution
ISO equivalency speeds as high as 3200 - a setting previously reserved for higher-end
professional digital camera models. Higher light sensitivities allow the FinePix
F30 to shoot with faster shutter speeds, which lessen the likelihood of blurred
pictures. In addition, the F30 is said to have a battery that can deliver 500
pictures on a single charge.



A new flash system, called i-Flash, works in tandem with Real Photo Technology
to intelligently read available light and adjust its power accordingly for proper
contrast. This coordinated action exposes subjects more accurately, adjusting
intensity and focus point by measuring a variety of environmental scene factors
to ultimately capture an image as your eye sees it.



On the film front, Fujifilm commemorates the 20th Anniversary of its invention
of the One-Time-Use Camera with the introduction of QuickSnap 1000. The new QuickSnap
1000 models are preloaded with new 1000 speed Fujicolor film with Fujifilm's patented
4th Color Layer Technology -- the highest speed film of any One-Time-Use Camera
in the U.S. today. They are available in Flash, Colors (Blue, Red and Purple)
and Outdoor versions and provide several important benefits for consumers including
a flash range extended to 17 ft. (except for Outdoor model), better action shots
and less blur than other Fujifilm models, and better pictures in low light.



Fujifilm has also introduced Fujichrome T64 Professional Film, a new ISO 64 tungsten-type
color transparency film that delivers ultra-fine grain and optimum tonal scale
and gradation under tungsten lighting. Fujichrome T64 Professional incorporates
new-generation color couplers and Multi-Color Correction Layer Technology that
ensure pure, accurate color reproduction. This film is ideal for a wide range
of product shots, interiors, furniture, architecture, certain medical imaging
needs and other professional applications requiring tungsten lighting. The new
film also possesses excellent color image stability.



And, an increasing rarity at any photo show, Fujifilm has also introduced two
new 35mm film cameras.The Fujifilm Clear Shot V ll, with manual film advance and
manual flash, and Clear Shot M ll, with Automatic Film Advance and Rewind and
Automatic Flash feature focus-free Fujinon lenses and Red-Eye Reduction and offer
big, bright viewfinders for easy photo composition.

Fujiflim has introduced the new compact Fujinon XF90mm F2 R LM WR, a weather-resistant, fast-aperture prime lens designed to  deliver sharp images with rich bokeh, at all aperture settings. The Fujinon XF90mm F2 R LM WR (137mm in 35mm format equivalent) uses an optical construction of 11 elements in 8 groups (including 3 ED glass elements) that minimizes vignetting and creates bokeh thanks to the rounded diaphragm.

The Fujifilm Finepix 200 EXR (list: $599; street, under $500) sports a 12 megapixel sensor and a 14.3X optical zoom lens that is equivalent to 30.5-436mm (!) It takes stills and high-quality video and has a built in mic that delivers quality sound without much if any whirring from the camera. Having that much zoom capability means that you never will want on the tele side with this integral lens camera, and even 30mm is not bad on the wide side.

FUJIFILM North America Corporation announced the U.S. debut of its FinePix X100 premium digital camera which will begin shipping in March. The FinePix X100 is a high precision digital compact camera that combines modern technology with a traditional camera design to deliver the ultimate in image quality. Featuring an APS-C CMOS sensor (12.3 megapixel), a FUJINON 23mm Single Focal Length Fixed F2 lens, a 2.8” LCD 460K, and the world’s first Hybrid Viewfinder, the FinePix X100 captures exceptionally high quality images.

Fujifilm has introduced three new models to its digital camera portfolio, including
the FinePix S9000 and FinePix E900 digital cameras - the world's first consumer
level cameras with nine MegaPixel sensors. In addition, Fujifilm's popular S-series
line
now features the new FinePix S5200, offering five MegaPixels with a fully automatic
point-and-shoot feature set.



These three new models will feature Fujifilm's Real Photo Technology, a synergy
of the newly developed RP Processor, the 5th
Generation Super CCD HR sensor and a Fujinon lens that is said to provide many
benefits including reduced noise for sharper pictures, better low-light shooting,
faster operation and higher shutter speeds that minimize blurriness in photos
even at the high ISO setting, as achieved by the FinePix S9000 model.



The FinePix S9000 offers traditional SLR-like styling for serious photo enthusiasts
and Fujifilm's proprietary Super CCD HR (High Resolution) sensor to capture
nine million effective pixels - the first consumer digital camera on the market
to offer such resolution. In addition to increased MegaPixels, the FinePix S9000
features a new 10.7x optical zoom with a 28mm-300 wide-angle equivalent.



According to Fujifilm, users of consumer-level digital cameras found that higher
MegaPixels often meant more noise, resulting in pictures files that were big
enough for enlargements, but often lacking in sharpness. With the FinePix S9000
users are said to be able to capture beautiful digital images with very little
noise at the high ISO settings at full resolution.



Additional features of the S9000 include a tilting LCD screen for shooting from
a variety of angles, the ability to shoot in the RAW file format, dual media
slots, 30 fps video at VGA resolution, hot shoe mount for external flash systems
and ultra high resolution achieved through the electronic viewfinder.



The FinePix E900 adds to Fujifilm's current E-series lineup, providing consumers
with a powerful nine million-pixel sensor in a compact design.



Similar to its predecessors, the FinePix E900 is a point and shoot camera that
expands with users as they broaden their imaging expertise. In addition to a
4x optical zoom and large two-inch LCD screen, the FinePix E900 also caters
to users seeking more advanced features, including mode dial for easy access
to common shooting functions, RAW mode and optional lens adapters. By incorporating
Real Photo Technology, the FinePix E900 can also achieve higher shutter speeds
that minimize blurriness in photos at ISO equivalent settings as high as 800.




Availability

The FinePix S9000 will be available in early September at $699.95. The FinePix
E900 and FinePix 5200 will be available in October at $499.95 and $399.95 respectively.
The FinePix S9000 and S5200 models will ship with four AA alkaline batteries
and the FinePix E900 model comes equipped with 2 NiMH rechargeable batteries.
All three models use Fujifilm's xD-Picture Card(tm) storage media.
