How to Crush Street Photography Using These Great Tips (VIDEO)

One of the best places in the world for street photography are the colorful streets of Tokyo, Japan. And that’s where street photographer Pierre T. Lambert recently journeyed to and came back from with some great tips, which he shares in the video below.

Titled “Start Crushing Street Photography,” Lambert prowls the streets of Tokyo with his handy Sony A7R III mirrorless camera in the video, grabbing eye-catching shots as he goes. While he likes his A7R III, you don’t, necessarily, need this camera to be a successful street photographer.

“The camera you use in street photography is really not that important,” he says. “It's really all about how you view a scene and approach it. The settings that I share here are really made for you to concentrate on your image vs. your camera.”

Here are the settings he uses "90% of the time" for street photography.

• Camera mode: Aperture priority (A), f/2.8 for shallow depth of field or anything above f/5.6 for cityscapes & scenes

• Minimum shutter speed: 1/250s for most days, 1/500s for fast objects/cars/bikes

• My ISO range: 100-12800 (I'm lucky)

• Blurry crowds shot handheld: 1/5s, 1/4s anything below gets very tricky handheld!
