On Saturday, September 17th, 2011 the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will hold “Take a Shot: A Digital Photography Symposium,” the center’s first annual day-long seminar for photography enthusiasts, practitioners, or simply those wishing to learn more about the many styles and techniques involved in the art. Open to students of all levels, the symposium is designed to provide information and technique sharing through various interactive and intensive workshops taught by some of the most recognized photographers in New England.

The Tamarkin & Bertoldi Spring auction of rare cameras, lenses, and accessories will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Woodbridge, Connecticut. This auction will be especially attractive to Leica collectors because the auction includes a wonderful collection including a black Leica MP, a chrome Leica MP, and two Leica 250Reporter cameras.
Tamarkin & Bertoldi Vintage Auctions held their 29th rare camera auction last weekend which was held over two days. There were 549 lots offered and included vintage camera gear from Leica, Rolleiflex, Nikon rangefinder, and other famous marques.
Featured in the auction was a like new black enamel Leica M2 that sold for over $39,000 (including buyer’s fee), a 15mm Hologon f8 lens that was hammered down for over $15,000, and a 1937 Leica 250 GG Reporter for $6,000. Another extremely interesting sale was the mounted Minox Sales Display from the 1960s that sold for over $3,700.
Stan Tamarkin's rare camera auction on Sunday, October 30 will feature an original Leica Gun (Leica Code: RIFLE). It is complete and in beautiful condition. The pre-auction estimate is $65,000 - $100,000. The Leica Gun only comes on the market rarely.

Tamron Co., Ltd. announced the development of a next generation 90mm Macro lens for full-size SLR cameras. The lens features completely redesigned optics, a proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation), and USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive). The SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts. The lens is expected to ship by the end of 2012. Pricing information will be announced at a later date.
