If you want to build an online photo album or digital portfolio of your images to share on the web, there are many ways to do it. But one of our favorite options has been the jAlbum photo gallery software, which we have reviewed several times over the years.

Ever since DxO acquired the popular Nik Collection of image-editing software from Google last October, photographers have eagerly awaited an update to the powerful free suite of Photoshop and Lightroom plugins. The good news is that Nik Collection 2018 is now available on the DxO website, although the download is no longer free.

Shutterbug, a member of the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), once again joined forces with 30 other member magazines from around the world to choose the winners of the annual TIPA Awards for the best photo/imaging products in 40 different categories. The award process began in early 2017 with an initial selection of a wide range of products conducted by TIPA’s Technical Committee, on which Shutterbug’s Editor-at-Large George Schaub serves. 

Just about a year ago we reviewed a fun new software package called PortraitPro Body, designed to add curves to a slender model or make a scrawny teenager look like a weightlifter. And now, parent company Anthropics is back with the updated PortraitPro Body 2, offering a number of new features and enhanced processing speed.

There’s a lot going on at Macphun these days: The company’s name is changing to Skylum, indicating they’re no longer a Mac-only software developer, and they just announced their first cross-platform product, in the form of Luminar 2018—a major update to their popular image-editing program for both Mac and Windows computers.

There’s more to black-and-white photography than an absence of color. One reason purists refer to black-and-white images as “monochrome” is that it’s a more precise term covering photographs made in sepia and other tones.
