HP has unveiled the Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer, rounding out the company's
growing portfolio of printing solutions for the advanced amateur market.
The HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer contains several color management
advancements that simplify the printing experience. The printer is seamlessly
integrated with Adobe Photoshop¨ CS3, enabling users to print directly from
their preferred workflow. The choice is then automatically synchronized with
the color management setting, eliminating issues associated with "double
color management." This technology also is available in a free software
download.
HP is offering two digital photography software products that enable consumers
to print high-quality photos at home in two simple steps. Available as a free
download, HP Photosmart Essential 1.9 offers a variety of photo organizing,
editing and sharing tools and can be expanded with free new features or upgrades
as they are released. Among the offerings are Holiday Card Packs that enable
users to create personalized holiday greeting cards by dragging and dropping
photos into professionally designed templates.
The HP Photosmart 7960 was the first eight-color printer on the market and it's
still the only sub $250 machine that can make "archival" prints
with a 73 year lightfast rating. In spite of the moderate price, it includes
some advanced technology plus valuable extras for direct printing without turning
on a computer.
The HP Photosmart R937 Digital features a large, 3.6-inch interactive touchscreen
and 8-megapixel resolution. Users can apply creative touches, easily organize
photos with Microsoft Vista-compatible tags, add e-mail addresses for easy sharing
and create slide shows -- all in the camera. In addition, the HP Photosmart
R937 Digital Camera includes the latest HP Design Gallery features such as in-camera
red-eye removal,( pet-eye fix, slimming, HP steady photo anti-shake and HP touch-up
to ensure subjects look their best.
HP has announced its first annual "On Assignment with HP" contest
for advanced amateur and professional photographers. Running May 18 through
August 31, 2005, the program is designed to help promote HP's high quality
photo printing solutions and capture a special new collection of original photography.
The winning images will be evaluated and selected based on composition, sharpness,
lightning, creativity and originality by a panel of judges that includes world-renowned
photographer Douglas Kirkland.

this contest will help support and recognize the efforts of this talented community,"
said Enrique Lores, Vice President & General Manager, HP Inkjet Commercial
Division (ICD). "From the advanced amateur photo to fine arts reproduction,

Contest participants will have a chance to showcase their imagination and skill
in three categories, designed to allow maximum freedom to explore original creative
ideas. The categories are as follows:
· Color: This category will explore the wide range of brilliant colors
taken through the lens as well as capturing clear, well-defined images.
· Black and White: The best photos in this category will include a wide
range of gray shades, yet will also take into account sharp imagery.
· Portrait/Social: Featuring people in still or social settings, photos
submitted in this category will be judged on both the use of color and well-defined
images.
By demonstrating imagination through the creation of images, a grand prize and
runner-up prize will be awarded in each category. Grand prize winners will be
awarded $5,000 in cash, an HP Designjet 90 series printer, as well as 30 professional-quality
prints from their portfolio. The runner-up prizes include an HP Photosmart 8750
printer and supplies kits including HP Vivera inks and photo paper.
The judging panel will include photographer Douglas Kirkland, a team of creative
professionals from Publicis in the West, and HP representatives. Winners will
be notified on September 30th. Participants may enter the program by uploading

HP announced a free, downloadable software application for the HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer series that enables professional photographers to generate large-format photo negatives for the production of high-quality, black and white silver halide photo prints.
The long anticipated collaboration between Leica and Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is finally a reality with the unveiling of two flagship models, the P9 and P9 Plus. I AM Photographer has organized its 5th anniversary festival during four days in the beginning of spring, April 3-6, 2014.
