Following the acquisition of Hardigg Industries (December 23, 2008), Pelican Products announced today that they now offer both injection and rotationally molded cases. Rotationally molded cases are created by loading structural grade plastic resin into a series of molds which are heated and slowly rotated on both a vertical and horizontal axis. The result is a seamless base and lid (with more material in the corners and edges) that offers superior impact protection.

New product offerings include:
Black Box Rack Mount Cases (7 models) are lightweight, compact, and double ended cases that offer light to medium duty protection (for communication and recording systems, etc.). The case shells feature recycled materials on the outside and a sturdy pre-threaded steel frame system that secures rack style electronics on the inside.

The Olympus E-P1 is said to be the world’s smallest 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens system camera that blends the high-quality still images of a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) with High Definition (HD) video, stereo Linear PCM audio recording and In-Camera Creativity within an ultra-portable body.

Olympus has a long history of miniaturizing camera technology. The first-generation Olympus PEN appeared in 1959 and led the way to high-quality images in a small package, matching SLR cameras’ performance of the era.Today, Olympus utilized its miniaturizing and engineering expertise to create a slimmer body, removing the optical viewfinder and mirror box found inside a traditional DSLR, to create a small but high-quality interchangeable lens camera. By reducing its lens mount diameter, Olympus also enabled the production of smaller and lighter lenses to match the E-P1’s body size.

The camera’s retro-style metal body design is available in either silver or white with accompanying new small and lightweight Olympus M. ZUIKO Micro Four Thirds lenses: 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 (28-84mm equivalent) and 17mm f2.8 (34mm equivalent).

I cannot say I have been at all successful with these last months trying to understand and find a solution to the “prints too dark” problem so many have reported. Oh! Yes! A few have reported that what I have written has been helpful to them and they have resolved the problem for themselves. But many more either do not get it, do not want to understand, or really don’t care all that much and are just happy to make prints the way their printer driver tells them it should look. But right now, is not a good time for reality, for truth with today’s politics and economics putting everyone at each other’s throat battling realities and fantasies, lies and truths with much confusion. I am maybe expecting too much.
