Leica Camera unveiled its new Leica M Monochrom (Type 246), an updated version of the company's black-and-white-only digital rangefinder. Leica says the revamped M Monochrom is the first digital camera to capture a real black-and-white image (still or moving) without the aid of image processing or filtering.

When I tell someone I’m the editor of Shutterbug, the discussion quickly turns to photography (imagine that!) and everyone, absolutely everyone, has something to say about taking photos. We make a lot of selfie stick-related jokes here at Shutterbug but we’ve never seen anything as hilariously depressing as the Selfie Arm. The invention, which we hope is meant as a satirical joke, is a fake arm that you can attach a smartphone or camera to take a self-portrait.

“As photographers, we have to remember what got us here today may not work tomorrow, in the sense that we constantly have to reinvent ourselves,” Ecclesine astutely affirms. “As a photographer, you’re there to capture a moment.
