I understand Zeiss is or has lens for Nikon Cameras. In this months Shutter Bug it shows them. My question is will they work with the D200? If so is there some metering differences with these lens? Monte
Hi Monte,
As I understand it, they are made for manual focusing cameras but should work ok on your D200, but only as
a completely manual lens.
On the other side of the coin, I would personally use the
Nikon 50mm F1.4 AF as it is both much cheaper and I really doubt you would see any difference in the images.
I had the (German) 50 f1.4 AE for my Contax RX and it was an excellent lens, but again I doubt it was that much better than the Nikon lens to justify the price they are now asking.
Thanks Dave. I believe you are right as far as the money goes. I also had the 50 1.4 on an Aria Contax. It was sharp. So far the 18-70 does pretty good. I have some 16x20 prints made from shots with that lens. In time I will pick up some other lens. Zeiss glass was wonderful when shooting slide film but for BW I do not notice enough difference to justify the price. Monte.
