In the advertising section of every issue of Shutterbug is a photographic services directory arranged by state. Look for the repair shop's specialties and location. If there's no one near you, contact a shop in a nearby state. Get an estimate before you send the camera.

Thanks Anton, but the very first thing I did on this site was call the repair shops advertized in the Northeast. No one will take my camera. I've been emailing some other repair shops in the USA & Canada. I'm hoping someone can save me the wild goose chase.

is there anything that could assist me in the repair of the camera myself? i have the same problem where there is no power coming from the battery and the batteries have been new. the camera just stopped working one day. i turned the power on and it went dead.

Repair of older Minolta AF SLRs isn't simple. Minolta introduced a lot of different AF SLF models over the years and had a tendency to discontinue parts and camera models fairly quickly, it may have been too costly for them to keep stocking all those different part numbers.

The 7000/7000i are early AF SLRs that use two sets of batteries, the normal set and the 3-volt battery (CR2016) under a plate with six screws in the camera. You must replace all of them, then try and see if the camera will re-energize (may take awhile). If that doesn't work it is probably a continuity failure in the wiring or circuit board, the latter would have to be taken from a donor camera and the repair done by someone familiar with electronic AF SLRs - this won't be free, and since the camera isn't worth all that much, it's questionable if repair can be justified at this date.

I found a repair shop to fix my camera!

They fixed my camera and returned it to me in 2 weeks! It's good as new. I recommend them highly! Be sure to wrap your camera well with bubble wrap and double box it for shipping. They will use the same packaging to return your camera so that the shipping costs are identical.

What exactly was the repair performed, and how much did it cost you?

I have Minolta maxxum 400si. I havent been using it almost about 3 yrs since I bought my digital camera. It needs to be repaired. The problem (I guess) is AF/M button got stucked when I used it last time and it does not function anymore. My question is does it worth repairing it? Any guesses how much it would cost to repair it?
