Which zoom lense for Pentax K1000?

So I got my girl Pentax K1000, it's great, but the lense that comes with it doesn't offer zoom capabilities. What's a good lense out there that is compatable with K1000 and offers relatively good zoom (as modern day cameras, or somewhere close)?
Any other popular lenses that I might get her? She doesn't know much about lenses, but she loves to take pictures. She has a digital camera that's pretty good, but she wants to have the complete manual control (and she also needs this camera for her college class).

Why not ask the instructor of the class and se what is recommended; he/she may require just a 50 mm lens.

Hi Ruskiy,

I would suggest a 70-200 or 80-210 K-mount,add to it a
2x tel. converter and she will have a good range of focal
length. Add to it a wide angle ( maybe a 28mm) and she can
shoot just about anything. If she would like to try somethin' fun, open the 50mm up all the way, remove it from the camera,set shutter speed to 125th of a sec.,turn the lens around and hand hold it against the cameras lens mount.
Your focal distance will very small and your depth of focus
will be very small. However, she can get up close and personal with the inside of a flower. So have fun.
