I own a 20D and an Elan 7. I am planning to do some table top photography of jewelry using a light tent. I am wondering which macro lens would be best. I would prefer to have a lens that I can use on both cameras. I am leaning towards the 50mm 2.5 for this type of work. Does that make sense?

I think even with the 1.5X factor the 100mm f/2.8 Canon macro would be better suited to photograph small subjects on a table-top. It's much easier working with a little distance between camera and subject, and the longer focal length will reduce camera angle distortion.
