Which lens is Better? Is there no end....

I'm using the Canon digital Rebel XT and its time for a longer lens. But which one is best, I want to get the Image Stabilization on it, but cannot figure out which manufacture to go with. I've been looking at these...

Sigma APO 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 EX OS.....kind of expensive

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens.....seems to be good

Tamron Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical IF Macro Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS......I guess it doesn't have Image Stabilization, does it??? or do they make one with IS???

so, one is real expensive and the other two are fairly priced for what they are, but which one do you go with???? Or does someone have some other ideas???

I haven't either of these lenses, but from what I've read about them they seem to have a really slow AF.

The Sigma has gotten better reviews out of the two though.

Do you need the range of a zoom? If not you may want to look at the Canon 300mm f/4L IS USM(currently saving for one), it's only a little more than the Sigma and the 82 reviews I've read it scored a 9.8 out of 10. Slap on a TC and get a bit more reach out of it.
